Thermoformed trays

The most versatile format in thermoforming

A tray does whatever you shape it to do: hold a meal, carry a workpiece through an assembly line, organise a kit, or present a product in its carton. It's the same craft as a blister — a formed cavity — applied to organisation instead of enclosure.

We design the tray around what it carries and where it runs: stacking and denesting for logistics, ribs for stiffness, nests for delicate parts. Prototyped on 3D-printed tooling, produced on our own line and delivered labelled and traceable per box.

Types

Tray formats we produce

All thermoformed on our own tooling — the geometry, material and features follow what the tray has to do.

Food trays →

Open or sealed food trays — sealed and MAP variants have their own page.

Workpiece & line carriers

Trays that move parts through assembly, cleaning, curing or logistics.

Kit & compartment trays

Multi-pocket trays that organise components in a defined layout.

Retail inserts & presentation

Formed inserts that position and present products inside cartons and boxes.

Transport & logistics trays

Stackable trays that protect parts between sites and suppliers — reusable by design.

Instrument & device trays →

Medical compartment trays under the MedicoPax brand — see the medical page.

Design features

Engineered into the tray

The details that decide whether a tray works in daily use — designed in from the first drawing and proven on prototype tooling.

Stacking & denesting

Shoulders and lugs so filled trays stack stably and empty trays separate cleanly — by hand or robot.

Ribs & stiffness

Ribs and profile changes give a thin formed wall the stiffness of a much heavier tray.

Product nests

Pockets shaped to the part hold it through transport and present it for pick-up — manual or automated.

Robot & fixture datums

Location features and flat datums so the tray indexes repeatably in automation and fixtures.

Grip & handling

Finger recesses and smooth R4 edges make the tray safe and easy to handle all day.

Seal-ready flange

Add a controlled flange and the tray is ready for lidding — see sealed / MAP trays.

One partner, from design to validated line

Every stage under one roof means fewer hand-offs, faster iterations and a tray that's right the first time it runs.

FAQ

Tray questions, answered

What is the difference between a tray and a blister?+
A blister is shaped tightly around one product and usually sealed with lidding. A tray is an open format that organises, carries or presents one or more products — it can also be sealed, which makes it a sealed or MAP tray.
Can trays be designed to stack and denest?+
Yes. We design stacking shoulders and denest lugs into the tray so filled trays stack stably and empty trays separate cleanly — by hand or on an automated line.
Do you make trays for production lines, not just retail?+
Yes. Workpiece carriers and line trays that move parts through assembly, cleaning or logistics are a core use — designed around your part geometry and handling equipment. See Industrial & Consumer.
Which materials do you use for trays?+
PETG and APET/rPET for clear, tough trays, PP for heat resistance and mono-material designs, and CPET for oven-ready food trays. We'll recommend one for your case — see the materials hub.
